Petition: Provincial Support for the Culture Sector in Nova Scotia

Posted on: October 13, 2020

Your voice matters!

CBMIC has started a petition asking for government action to ensure that Nova Scotia’s creative and cultural sector is able to survive, recover, and flourish in the new circumstances created by Covid-19. Your voice matters and we need your help!

If you have received this email twice, its because you are on both our previous and current distribution lists. We appreciate your patience as we work to consolidate into the new membership platform via cbmic.ca/membership.

Now, the petition…

The creative and cultural sector contributes significantly to the economic and social wellbeing of Nova Scotia. The sector, which includes independent artists, creative businesses, cultural groups, and organizations, was one of the most drastically impacted by COVID-19 and will likely take the longest to recover.

We, the Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative, call for the Province of Nova Scotia to immediately address the urgent need for an emergency plan and funding for the culture sector. We specifically request a plan that addresses how the province intends to support cultural organizations, existing and new project applications, artists, and the survival and recovery of the cultural sector as a whole.

Immediate action is needed by the government to ensure that Nova Scotia’s creative and cultural sector is able to survive, recover, and flourish in the new circumstances created by Covid-19.
